The Community

Wingham is a growing and prosperous rural town of 4000 residents, is situated on the beautiful Maitland River in northern Huron County . Located at the junction of County Road #4 and County Road #86, Wingham is serviced by an extensive highway system. Providing easy access south to the London area, or north to the Walkerton and Hanover area. A short drive to the west will find you at the beautiful Lake Huron shoreline, or east takes you to the Listowel, and Kitchener-Waterloo area.

Downtown Wingham

The Wingham area takes pride in its high quality agricultural land, which produces superior quality and quantity of agricultural produce. The area supports many farm service and supply companies, local implement dealers, processing plants and co-ops that bring large economic investment to the region. Wescast Industries Inc. which operates two casting plants and one machining plant in the Wingham area is one of North America 's foremost suppliers of exhaust manifolds. Royal Homes Ltd. manufactures award-winning modular homes that are shipped to sites across Ontario and to international destinations. BI-AX Inc. produces rolls of plastic film for food packaging and other industrial applications at its Wingham location.

In addition to over 14 local religious organizations, the large number of youth groups and service clubs in the area demonstrates Wingham's community spirit.

The Wingham and District Hospital


The Wingham and District Hospital is a modern, progressive acute care facility providing medical, surgical, maternity, pediatric, chronic care, and rehabilitation services, including 24-hour emergency coverage. A modern medical clinic operates in a building attached to the hospital. Six family physicians, a surgeon, and two anesthetists practice in the Wingham area.

Wingham has a strong municipal infrastructure and workforce including the Wingham Police Services and the Wingham and Area Fire Services. Wingham Municipal Airport boasts a 4,000 foot paved runway capable of handling corporate jets. A modern water and sewage treatment facility dependably provides safe potable water for the town.
